Derrick Lewis - Patient Advocate Derrick Lewis became a below the knee amputee in September '07. Since losing his limb, Derrick has devoted his time to helping other amputees. Derrick is co-founder of a website created for amputees needing that extra support called ampufreedom.com.
In 2010, Derrick was hired by New Life Brace and Limb as their patient advocate. As patient advocate, Derrick visits patients before and after amputation with educational information and advice on how to deal with the loss of a limb. With the help of New Life Brace and Limb, he has started a amputee support group in the greater Houston area, which is held every month. When Derrick is not at work motivating amputees, he is spending time with his wife and kids. Derrick also enjoys recording hip hop music and also designing funny inspirational t-shirts for amputees. Derrick says, "Losing a limb doesn't mean you have to stop living".
